The Baltimore Orioles added newly acquired catcher Chris Snyder to the roster on Tuesday. Snyder was acquired from the Angels for pitcher Rob Delaney.
Snyder, 32, will serve as the backup to Matt Wieters while Taylor Teagarden is on the disabled list.
In order to place Snyder on the roster the Orioles sent down Luis Exposito. Exposito was called up when Teagarden initially suffered a thumb injury.
Snyder’s contributions to the Orioles are expected to be minimal. Teagarden appeared in just 22 games last season. In parts of nine seasons Snyder has a .225/.329/.385 line.

Justin Sellers (and his tattoos) was somewhat surprisingly named the opening day shortstop.
It may have only been “karma” that the Dodgers 2013 roster was made official on Easter Sunday.
After all, for millions of people, the day represents rebirth. The same may hold true for the Dodgers since this year represents the beginning of, if you can believe the new advertising slogan, “a whole new blue.”
The 25-man roster includes the usual suspects of potential superstars and also lists a couple of unusual suspects as well.
When infielder Hanley Ramirez tore a thumb ligament during the 2013 World Baseball Classic, the initial thought was that Luis Cruz would move to shortstop and free agent bust Juan Uribe would start at third base by default. So it came as a bit of a surprise that the Dodgers kept Justin Sellers on the roster and announced he would be the opening day shortstop with Cruz stepping in at third base. Sellers selection may also show that Uribe will forever be in the dog hou…

The Detroit Tigers have been searching for their backup/platoon player for the outfield and more specifically left field all spring. Andy Dirks has been named the starter in left field, but Detroit is looking for a right handed batter to complement Dirks. It seems that Matt Tuiasosopo is that man. Tuiasosopo, who was a relative [...]

The Pittsburgh Pirates used up their final options on both SPs Andy Oliver, whom they got from the Detroit Tigers earlier this season and Bryan Morris, when they were sent down to Indianapolis in the past week. From here on out, Oliver and Morris would have to clear waivers before they could be moved off [...]

With a little over 2 weeks left until opening day, the Cardinals are still trying to decide on a 5th starter. Despite my speculation that Joe Kelly won the job with his performance yesterday, Mike Matheny stated after the game that no decision had been made, adding that the team could allow both Kelly and Shelby Miller to pitch again before reaching a decision. Even with that job still unsettled, the rest of the roster is beginning to take shape, with only a couple spots still in doubt. Here is my projected opening day roster: Starting Lineup C – Yadier Molina 1B – Allen Craig 2B – Matt Carpenter SS – Pete Kozma 3B – David Freese LF – Matt Holliday CF – John Jay RF – Carlos Beltran Bench Daniel Descalso Ty Wigginton Tony Cruz Shane Robinson Ronny Cedeno Starting Rotation 1. Adam Wainwright 2. Jake Westbrook 3. Jaime Garcia 4. Lance Lynn 5. Joe Kelly/Shelby Miller Bullpen Jason Motte Mitch Boggs Edward Mujica Trevor Rosenthal Fernando Salas Randy Choate Marc Rzepcynsk…

The Milwaukee Brewers continued to trim their roster Wednesday, announcing six players had been sent back to the minor leagues.
Headlining the list is first baseman Hunter Morris, who struggled in spring training. With Corey Hart and Mat Gamel sidelined with injuries, Morris was suddenly thrust into the competition at first base, but he wasn’t quite ready.
Milwaukee’s Minor League Player of the Year in 2012, Morris had just three hits in 25 spring training at-bats for a .120 batting average.
The Brewers also returned catcher Adam Weisenburger and outfielder Kentrail Davis to minor league camp and optioned infielder Scooter Gennett, outfielder Josh Prince and right-hander Jesus Sanchez to Triple-A Nashville.
None of the latest round of cuts come as a surprise, but Sanchez did show well in five spring training games, posting a 2.08 ERA and striking out five in 4 13 innings.
The Brewers are now down to 42 players in big league camp.
