The Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox and other Major League clubs have reset the gluttony bar with their latest menu pairings.
There is some sort of irony to be found in the concept of watching the fittest athletes in the world compete while chomping down on the least nutritional food possible.
Gone are the days where a simple burger and fries was the worst thing that one could consume at a Major League baseball game.
We have arrived at a time where the folks that run park concessions have gotten competitive in their creative zeal to come up with the most decadent combinations possible to tempt your palette.
These are the five that are must haves for those that road trip to multiple parks during the summer.

The Chicago Cubs have no plans to send struggling second basemen Darwin Barney to Triple-A. Barney is hitting a disappointing .153/.274/.264 on the season.
Chicago did not expect Barney, a career .257 hitter, to be a large portion of their offense this season but his current problems at the plate can not be over looked even with gold glove caliber defense.
According to Gordon Wittenmyer Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer said prior to Saturday’s game against Washington that the Cubs would keep Barney with the big league club. Hoyer went on to say that Barney had “earned a lot of playing time.”

It didn’t take long for Brennan Boesch to find a new home.
Two days after being released by the Tigers, Boesch has signed a major league deal with the Yankees, according to CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman.
The Yankees are in desperate need of some reinforcements, and Boesch will give them a left-handed hitting outfielder with a reputation of being a streaky hitter. Given the thin market, though, Boesch seems like a logical choice for the Bronx Bombers, especially since the 27-year-old has enjoyed at least some major league success in the past.
Boesch’s deal is reportedly worth $ 1.5 million plus incentives. According to Heyman, Boesch could earn $ 600,000 in incentives in intervals based on the number of at-bats (100 to 350 at-bats) he receives.
The Red Sox, Mets and Astros were among the other teams to consider Boesch. It’s likely he’ll be given plenty of opportunities with the Yankees, though, as Curtis Granderson is currently sidelined with a broken forearm.

The Miami New Times dropped a round of napalm on Major League Baseball when they published a report that fingered Alex Rodriguez as a customer of a clinic that supplied athletes with performance enhancing drugs.

The calendar is about to turn to 2013 and the Major League Baseball season is drawing closer. There is still one player that I could see traded before Opening Day that would make a major difference on the upcoming season. Could the Boston Red Sox make a move to try to get Justin Upton from [...]

The Atlanta Braves are bringing back what some call the “screaming Indian” logo for their batting practice caps in 2013. Every few years, all 30 Major League Baseball teams get new designs for their batting practice caps, but for some reason the Braves have decided to go with questionable imagery that they used from 1967 to 1989.

If only Adrian Beltre was a free agent this winter…
Luis Cruz was a nice story. He really was. But a “nice story” isn’t good enough to be a starting third baseman in Major League Baseball.
Cruz, 28, got a chance to play this season and took advantage of it. He hit .297/.322/.431 in 78 games. He had surprising pop, hitting six home runs and 20 doubles (tied for fourth-best on the team). But there’s one key statistic that shows Cruz is probably due for a regression in 2013: his walk rate.
Baseball is about getting on base, and Cruz did that about 32 percent of the time in 2012. Not bad for a utility player, but not good enough for an every day third baseman. He walked just 3 percent of his plate appearances (nine times in 296 plate appearances) and his batting average on balls in play was a little better than average (.320). When he stops hitting at a .297 clip, which is going to happen because he’s Luis Cruz, his on-base percentage will plummet. I…

I am not denying the fact that Philadelphia Phillies are a good team, but their general manager, Ruben Amaro, is among the worst general managers in Major League Baseball. The acquisition of Ben Revere, in exchange for Vance Worley and Trevor May, absolutely cements my sentiments on Amaro. Before I got HAM on Amaro, I think I should break down the trade that was [...]
