Toronto Blue Jays pitcher J.A. Happ had to leave Tuesday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays on a stretcher after being struck in the side of the head by a line drive by Rays batter Desmond Jennings in the second inning.
Happ was taken to the hospital and is reportedly in stable condition while undergoing some tests. We wish Happ a speedy recovery.

In Tuesday night’s Blue Jays-Rays game, Toronto starting pitcher JA Happ was hit in the side of the head by a line drive off the bat of Rays outfielder Desmond Jennings. Happ was taken off the field on a stretcher with his head immobilized, and he offered the crowd a wave of his hand as he left the field. Video of the incident is below the jump, but I must warn you that it’s graphic. There was no immediate update on Happ’s condition, and we truly hope his injury isn’t serious. [follow]

If you are on the lookout for Yankee tickets and using Google you may end up with more then you bargained for. That is becase the old Yankees ticket number “800-913-9793″ is now a sex hot line.
The number rings though to “America’s Hottest Talk Line” which connects users for phone sex, dates and other hookups.
Alice McGillion, a spokesman, for the Yankees said that the team used the number a few years ago for seat relocation. The Yankees no longer use the number and thus have no control over it. A simple google search for Yankees box office phone number returns this number.
For those curious the Yankees actual ticket number is nearly impossible to find. But it is 1-800-YANKEES.

Rumor Mill:
As of this morning, the deal had four players coming to the Mets and three to the Blue Jays, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post (Twitter links).
Toronto also wants a catcher back in the deal, and that could be Thole. The Mets have discussed getting pitching prospect Noah Syndergaard in the deal as well, Puma tweets.
The two teams are inching towards the finish line, a source tells Passan (via Twitter). At least some players’ medicals have been reviewed and a deal is imminent.
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says the two sides have agreed that d’Arnaud can be the centerpiece of the trade after the Mets rejected a Gose/J.P. Arencibia package (all Twitter links). Once they finalize the rest of the players involved, it’s believed Dickey will talk about an extension with Toronto.
It is believed from what I read that the Mets will send Pitcher R.A. Dickey, Catcher Josh Thole, and either RHP Jeurys Familia or IF/OF Wilmer Flores for Catch…

The Tampa Bay Rays did what many people believed they would do for quite some time now in trading starting pitchers James Shields and Wade Davis for hitting, finally agreeing to a deal with the Kansas City Royals for top hitting prospect Wil Myers. While Shields and Davis can likely be inserted into the Royals’ starting pitching rotation right away, it was far too steep of a price to give up Myers.
The bottom line here is that the Royals got absolutely fleeced by the Rays.
Now, don’t start thinking this is anywhere along the lines of the trade between the Miami Marlins and the Toronto Blue Jays. The Royals – unlike the Marlins – are at least trying to get better.
They just don’t know how to accomplish that.
This deal certainly isn’t going to get the job done. In fact, many will see this as a step backward, provided Myers turns out to be the power hitting pro that many envision.
The Rays have been pitching rich for years. Every time they lose a pitcher, another one steps up into his …

Jason WhitneyYanks’ GM Brian Cashman responds to the claims of Derek Jeter being overweight The last few days Yankee fans have seen photo images of their beloved Derek Jeter in not the greatest of shape. Whether it be him in a walking boot or the extra spare tire around the waist line, Yankee fans have not seen this side of The Captain. Yankee general manager, Brian Cashman responded to questions about Jeter’s surgically repaired ankle and his weight. Via TheNYDailyNews: Not to worry, says Yanks GM Brian Cashman, no one should be concerned about Jeter’s condition. Or conditioning. The shortstop’s rehab from the operation to repair his broken ankle is “going really well,” Cashman said Friday. “He’s going to be ready for us by Opening Day. He’ll be a restricted player for us early in camp, but all indications are very strong for a full and healthy recovery. We just have to wait for the healing process to complete itself.” When asked about the recent photo of Derek Jeter and the potential we

The Los Angeles Angels have acquired Tommy Hanson from the Atlanta Braves. The one time stud prospect has dealt with shoulder problems recently and has seen a decline in his velocity. Should he recover some of that loss velocity, Hanson has the ability to be a top of the line starter for years to come. Hanson, a 26-year-old right-hander has a 45-32 career record and 3.61 earned-run average in four seasons with the Braves and went 13-10 with a 4.48 ERA, 161 strikeouts and 71 walks in 174 2/3 innings in 2012. He will join C.J. Wilson and Jered Weaver in the Angels rotation. The team is currently decieded on whether or not to tender a contract to Jerome Williams. In exchange for Hanson the Angels traded away Jordan Walden. Walden served as the Angels closer in 2011 but had shoulder concerns himself and was moved to middle relief last season. He finished 2012 with 3.46 ERA while save one game. His ability to reach 98 mph has resulted in a 10.8 strikeouts per nine which should mesh well …
