Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones hit an upper deck home run, via the lower deck railing, in the third inning of Sunday’s 6-0 win over the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.

Jones hit a line drive over the left field wall, but the ball took an unusual bounce off the lower railing and went straight up into the seats in the upper deck. Jones couldn’t do that again if he had a million more tries.

Shane Victorino went to the hospital on Sunday to have his ribs and back examined after he crashed into the right field wall at Fenway Park trying to catch a home run ball.
Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Emilio Bonifacio hit a bomb to right field with a man on in the top of the fourth inning against the Boston Red Sox. Victorino, who was playing right, raced back to try making the catch. Victorino clearly did not know where he was, because he slammed into the wall at nearly full speed.
The impact of the collision caused him to lose his glove over the wall and collapse to the ground.
Victorino stayed in the game for a few more innings, but he was replaced after the sixth. Jason Mastrodonado says Victorino left the game because he felt stiff.
The ugly irony is that Providence Journal beat writer Tim Britton says Victorino was saying the other day that he didn’t like the short wall in right and that he “was afraid he’d end up in the bullpen trying to make a catch.”
Victorino didn’t…

Your browser does not support iframes. Adam Rosales was robbed of a home run after the umpires blew the review of the instant replay in the ninth inning of Wednesday’s game between the Oakland A’s and Cleveland Indians. The A’s were down 4-3 with two outs in the top of the ninth. Rosales was facing Indians closer Chris Perez and took him deep to left. The ball traveled out of the park and hit the railing in front of the seats in the left field bleachers. It deflected off the railing and hit off the top of the wall, landing back in play. Rosales ran out the play and ended up with a double. Despite reviewing the play on instant replay, the umpires gave Rosales a double instead of a home run. Oakland got the next two runners on, but Seth Smith grounded out with the bases loaded to end the game. In the screenshot below, you can see that the ball hit off the iron fence: A’s pitcher Brett Anderson derided the call over Twitter shortly after the game ended: Over the fence must mean extra…

Josh Hamilton already dealt with being booed on the road to start the season, and now he’s hearing the boos at home, too.
Hamilton was booed on Friday night during the Angels’ 4-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Hamilton DHd and batted fifth, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. Multiple people noted that he was getting booed during the night, and OC Register sports intern Sam Strong says the boos got worse each time he came up hitless.
Hamilton has struggled to start the season and Angels fans are growing impatient with his and the team’s struggles. Since homering in back-to-back games against Houston on April 13 and 14 for his only dingers of the season, Hamilton has not had an extra-base hit. He’s also struck out 22 times and only walked twice since the 14th.
Hamilton was not in the lineup on Saturday and likely given the day off to collect himself. He took extra batting practice before the game and worked on his timing.
One of Hamilton’s biggest issues is how poor his approach…

In an odd role reversal highlight, it is Tim Hudson doing the homering off of Bryce Harper. Tim Hudson came to the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Braves up 5-1. He hit a deep ball to the opposite field and it was tracked down by Bryce Harper right next to the right field wall, and then it got weird. The ball hit Bryce’s mitt as he tried to rob Hudson, and it bounced off of it and over the wall for the third home run of Hudson’s career.

Miami Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton hit his first home run of the year on Saturday night in his 18th game. Stanton got his money’s worth with the moonshot, as his first inning homer off of Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Travis Wood traveled an estimated 440 feet and went over the scoreboard in left field at Marlins Park. Last May, Stanton hit a similar blast that broke the same scoreboard he cleared against the Cubs. Unfortunately for Stanton and the Marlins, his first homer of the year wasn’t enough and Miami fell 3-2. Their record now sits at 5-19, 10.5 games behind the first place Braves in the NL East. Just another day at the office for Bryce Harper on Saturday: 3-for-3, 2 home runs, 3 RBI, including that monster go-ahead home run in the eighth to bail out the Nationals against the Mets. According to hittracker, the ball travelled 433 feet. Here’s Davey:
“Harper was amazing today. He crushed a couple balls. What a day he had. That last one he hit off (Mets left-hander Josh Edgin), that was sky high and still got out of here.” (Davey Johnson, via Washington Times, 4/21/2013)
Not too shabby a start to the season for Harper: .371/.426/.758 slash line with 7 HR and 14 RBI through 16 games.
Maybe next time Harper will ding one off that bridge:

The Cincinnati Reds had a guest bat boy Ted Kremer, a 30-year-old with Down syndrome, for their game on Thursday night in Cincinnati. Ted performed his duties flawlessly and was also the recipient of a special granted wish. Before the game Ted had asked third baseman Todd Frazier to hit a home run for him. Frazier recalls the moment: “He’s so funny, he said, ‘C’mon, hit me a home run, I love you.’ I said, ‘I love you too, I’ll hit you one.” In the sixth inning Kremer got his wish when Frazier launched a 421-foot home run which you can see below. Frazier knew as he rounded the bases that Kremer would be the first person to greet him, and he was. “It was great how excited — that look,” Frazier said. “I started smiling even before I hit home plate because I knew it. They said he forgot to pick the bat up, so the umpire was yelling at him. It was such a great a great guy. You can’t get mad — even if you have a terrible day. How can you be mad when you’ve g…
