During the first inning of the White Sox and Angels game on Friday night, Albert Pujols ripped a foul ball down the third baseline and out of play. One fan, who had a full beer tried to test his luck and attempt to catch the ball with his beer. Instead of making a catch for the ages, he incited a few angry people around him as the beer exploded in a radius of a few rows. [@CJZero] Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

A week ago, we gave you Matt Kemp making a young fan’s day by giving him damn near his entire uniform. This week, it’s pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu, playing catch with a young fan in the stands at Dodger Stadium. Does it get any cooler than this?

Josh Hamilton may be struggling at the plate, but at least he’s still a good sport.
Hamilton and his new team, the Angels, went to Oakland on Monday for a three-game set, and the A’s used the occasion to honor the player who has found a special place in their hearts. As a member of the Texas Rangers, Hamilton blew a catch in the final game of last year’s season to help Oakland clinch the American League West.
A’s fans showed their thankfulness Monday night, dubbing the evening “Josh Hamilton Appreciation Night” and bringing some Butterfingers to commemorate Hamilton’s feat.
Hamilton, who is batting just .219 this year with two home runs and eight RBIs in 24 games, played along and used the Butterfingers as a nice before-game snack.
OAK fans held Josh Hamilton Appreciation Day, booed LAA players, cheered Josh+threw him Butterfinger candy bars in RF http://t.co/1orUiW0DBh— (@TexRangersFan34) April 30, 2013

Ben Revere made arguably the catch of the year at Great American Ball Park on Monday, but that’s not what will endear him to fans in Boston.
In the wake of the Boston Marathon explosions, the young Phillies outfielder attached a strip of tape with the words “Pray for Boston” to his glove when Philadelphia took on the Reds in Cincinnati. He then used that glove to rob Todd Frazier of an extra-base hit with a sprawling grab in center field and completed the highlight-reel play by doubling up baserunner Jay Bruce at first.
Check out both the catch and the tribute below.

Phillies centerfielder Ben Revere robbed, absolutely robbed Reds 3rd baseman Todd Frazier in the bottom of the second inning tonight, going all out on a lined shot to center before going full extension to steal extra bases with an amazing, early candidate for play-of-the-year type grab. Revere then has the presence of mind to fire the ball back into first and double up Jay Bruce, who, like most people, thought that there was no way the speedy Philly outfielder was making that catch.Turns out he was wrong, and Bruce, who had rounded second and was halfway to third, hightailed it back to first, but it was all for naught, as he was out by a country mile. We’re only 12 games into the 2013 Major League season, but every outfielder will be hard pressed to come up with a better catch than the jaw dropping snag Ben Revere pulled off. “I got it” is a common phrase used to call off a teammate from making a catch on the diamond, but when the person calling it isn’t a teammate, it can become a little bewildering. In the bottom of the seventh inning of Friday night’s game between Kansas City and Toronto, Blue Jays outfielder Rajai Davis was tracking down a foul ball. Little did he know there was a Royals ball boy alongside him waiting for the same baseball. Davis, who has been known to make remarkable run-down catches, nearly collided with the ball boy down the right-field line. The ball boy received a few cheers from the Kauffman Stadium crowd as neither of the chasers caught the ball. Check out the ball boy interfering with Davis in the video below. Bryce Harper is going to be the Nationals’ every day left fielder in 2013 after spending nearly all of 2012 in center. Of course, after the team traded for Denard Span, Harper was shifted to left to accomodate the new acquisition. Anyway, in today’s Spring Training opener against the Mets, Harper got a rough introduction to his new full-time position. In the bottom of the third inning, New York center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit a line drive out to Harper in left field, who had the ball bounce off of the heel of his glove, then off of his bare hand, and then into his glove. Yeah, he should have made the catch initially, but he at least showed some nice poise in recovering and managing to not let the ball hit the ground to record the out. I’m sure that as Spring Training progresses, Harper will continue to refine his defense in left and solidify his reptuation as an excellent defensive outfielder. [follow]

Perhaps a 1:25 video of awkward silence isn’t too appealing to
those who desire a little more excitement out of spring training. However there are a few topics to discuss regarding this video of Jon Lester playing
catch with John Lackey – like their a father-son duo getting ready for a little
league game at Holman Stadium in Nashua, NH. Below is the aforementioned video so take a look, and when you’re finished check out my three takeaways from it.

John Lackey’s dramatic weight loss
It shouldn’t take you long to figure out what pitcher is
throwing in the foreground (his name’s on the back of the uniform for crying
out loud), but if that number and his name were absent I guarantee you wouldn’t
have a clue who that player was. It’s pretty clear the rumors regarding Lackey’s
weight loss are spot on. Lackey looks like he came to camp ready to go, at least
physically, and that’s a great sign for the Sox. Maybe Lackey should be the new
