Marlins’ Josh Johnson Not Returning June 7

Marlins Josh Johnson not returning June 7The Florida Marlins have been one of the league’s surprises this season, keeping close pace with the National League East-leading Philadelphia Phillies. A big part of that has been the work of ace Josh Johnson, who is 3-1 with a 1.64 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 60.1 innings pitched. However, Johnson went on the disabled list May 17 for right shoulder inflammation and it doesn’t look like he’ll be back after just 15 days.

Johnson could officially come off the DL Wednesday but the Miami Herald notes that the team has been saying the plan is to have him return June 7. Now it appears that that deadline will be missed as well, Marlins Manager Edwin Rodriguez said, according to the Herald.

The Marlins have lost two in a row and are three games behind the Phils.
