As trade winds continue to swirl, particularly around the question of whether or not the Cubs will trade Matt Garza, there are plenty of candidates to punch their ticket out of Chicago. With the Winter Meetings upon us, the time is now for Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer and co. to decide who is a part of this team’s future, and who is expendable.
Two of those trade candidates reside in the outfield, with Alfonso Soriano and Marlon Byrd both wondering if they will be donning a Cubs uniform in 2012.
The rationale for trading the two are for very different reasons. One guy is a player that most fans, and likely Theo, cannot wait to get rid of, while the other has been a pretty welcome presence in his short time on the North Side.
